Standard OBD-II
Service 01, current data. Ask 7DF (everyone) or 7E0 (engine) with
02 01 <PID>; the answer is <len> 41 <PID> A B …. See
Talking to the car for the frame layout.
Supported PIDs
Read from the support bitmaps (PIDs 00, 20, 40).
Engine, 7E8 (28 PIDs):
01 04 05 0B 0C 0D 0F 10 11 1C 1F 20 21 23 2C 2D 30 31 33 3C 40 42 45 49 4A 4C 4D 4E
Transmission, 7E9 (14 PIDs):
01 05 0C 0D 1C 1F 20 21 30 31 40 41 42 45
Not supported, though a gauge would want them: 2F fuel level, A4
gear, 46 ambient temperature, 5C oil temperature. Gear comes from the
transmission’s own block instead (see Mitsubishi local ids);
fuel level has not been found yet.
Decoding
Ranges are what the engine (7E8) returned across two captures on
2026-10-18: 30 s of idle, then a 4½-minute drive in town (0–45 km/h, a few
firm accelerations).
| PID | Value | Formula | Idle | Drive |
|---|---|---|---|---|
0C |
engine speed | (A·256 + B) / 4 rpm | 609 – 875 | 556 – 3272 |
0D |
vehicle speed | A km/h | 0 | 0 – 45 |
0B |
intake manifold pressure, absolute | A kPa | 101 – 103 | 101 – 249 |
33 |
barometric pressure | A kPa | 101 | 101 |
49 |
accelerator pedal | A × 100 / 255 % | 0 | 0 – 81 |
04 |
calculated load | A × 100 / 255 % | 4.7 – 11.4 | 0 – 80.8 |
11 |
intake throttle (not the pedal) | A × 100 / 255 % | 100 | 63.5 – 100 |
05 |
coolant temperature | A − 40 °C | 61 – 62 | 68 – 84 |
0F |
intake air temperature | A − 40 °C | 42 – 43 | 46 – 53 |
10 |
air flow | (A·256 + B) / 100 g/s | 11.4 – 19.4 | 10.7 – 138.7 |

42 |
control module voltage | (A·256 + B) / 1000 V | 13.45 – 13.74 | 13.21 – 13.82 |
Supported but not read so far: 1F run time, 21 distance with the MIL
on, 2C/2D EGR commanded and error, 30/31 warm-ups and distance since
codes were cleared, 3C catalyst temperature, 45 relative throttle, 4A
second pedal sensor, 4C commanded throttle, 4D/4E time with MIL on and
since codes were cleared.
Things to know
Boost is two PIDs, and caps at about 22.5 psi
Boost is the manifold’s pressure above the outside air:
boost kPa = PID 0B − PID 33
boost psi = boost kPa × 0.145038
0B is a single byte, so it cannot read above 255 kPa absolute. With the
barometer at 101 kPa that is 154 kPa, or about 22.5 psi of boost. The
short drive above peaked at 249 kPa (148 kPa, 21.5 psi); a later three-hour
drive peaked at about 22.5 psi, right at the cap, so the real peak may be
higher and cut off. The engine’s own blocks probably hold the manifold
pressure without the cap; that is still open.
11 is not the pedal
On this diesel 11 is the intake throttle valve: wide open (100 %) at
idle, closing a little under load. The accelerator pedal is 49 (and 4A,
its second sensor).
Barometer is slow
33 sat at 101 kPa through every capture. It only needs reading now and
then, to turn the manifold pressure into boost.
How often each comes back
Asked one at a time, five fast PIDs in a loop (0C 0D 0B 49 04) plus one of
the slow ones in turn: 13.4 answers a second for each fast PID, about 2
for each slow one. The engine answers in 1.7 ms (median); the rest is the
reader’s own overhead.
